Corporate Mission

RhinoCyte, Inc. is a start-up life science company formed in 2005 and headquartered in Louisville, KY. The company utilizes patent-pending technology developed by Dr. Fred Roisen, Professor and Chair of the Department of Anatomical Sciences and Neurobiology at the University of Louisville, and licensed through the University of Louisville. Dr. Roisen?s laboratory has developed a method of isolating human olfactory neuroepithelial-derived progenitor or stem cells, located in mucosal lining of the human nasal passageways. Potential application of this technology includes autologous transplantation where minimal donor material could be isolated, expanded ex vivo, and manipulated to differentiate into the desired phenotype prior to engraftment, eliminating the requirements for immunosuppressive therapy. Most development work to date has been focused on the treatment of spinal cord injuries. However, this process could eventually be used as a therapy for the treatment of multiple degenerative and traumatic neurological diseases.
