This Year's Highlights

  • VXI has developed a prototype exchangeable valve under a Phase I research grant from the NIH SBIR program. This valve was implanted into an animal model and exchanged in 26 seconds, demonstrating the utility of this technology.
  • VXI obtained results from a second key animal study, in which the fibrotic overgrowth potential of 6 candidate biomaterials was evaluated in the highly fibrotic sheep model. At least two demonstrated negligible overgrowth after 3 months of implantation.

Anticipated Highlights

  • Data from a 5 month implantation study in the sheep model will become available in mid September. We expect this long-term implantation study to confirm the efficacy of at least one of our candidate anti-fibrotic biomaterials.

Corporate Mission

To deliver the benefits of bioprosthetic valves to patients of all ages, by developing a bioprosthetic valve that can be exchanged, when worn out, without open-heart surgery.
